humbletree

Just a geezer and his guitar, a keyboard & PC, and too much time on my hands it seems.  Been a long time since I played in a real band (and it probably shows), but this songwriting thing using my half demented brain and some of the new tech tools is just as addictive and strangely therapeutic.  In the words of Paul Simon, I am "locked in a struggle for the right combination of words and a melody line" (Surprise - Everything About It Is A Love Song). And if its not already obvious - I'm here  for the R&R, not the A&R.

Born in Wisconsin in the year of the dog. Been a cat person most of my life, but trying to warm up to a wide eyed weimaraner lately. Married into Japan some 30 odd years ago. Born in the year of the mouse, she is allergic to cats but loves dogs and tolerates their barking at the moon. Born and raised in this college town and will probably retire here because it keeps us young. Decided to use this media rich site and future posts to explore and share the process of songwriting as a creative outlet from a more conventional day job,  using "humbletree" as the project title.  I prefer the demographics and culture of Vox to places like myspace, especially now that Rupert Murdoch owns it. Everybody needs a hobby, especially aging boomers. Sometimes I have trouble staying in the pocket, and I'm working with a pretty limited vocal range, but I can't seem to stop trying. Sometimes it gets a little cheesy, but this is Wisconsin, afterall.
